Amplifying the Paralympics

The 2024 Paralympic Games provided a powerful global stage, and the Global Disability Innovation Hub seized the moment to amplify the voices, stories, and futures of disabled people worldwide by proudly supporting a landmark collaboration between leading UK and South African Deaf and disabled artists.

The 2024 Paralympic Games provided a powerful global stage, and the Global Disability Innovation Hub seized the moment to amplify the voices, stories, and futures of disabled people worldwide by proudly supporting a landmark collaboration between leading UK and South African Deaf and disabled artists. Presented to coincide with the Games, this visionary project imagines what the future holds for disabled people in a world facing immense challenges brought on by climate change, blending creativity, advocacy, and bold thinking about what tomorrow could look like.

Simultaneously, GDI Hub partnered with Shujaaz, an Emmy Award-winning organisation based in Kenya, to explore the cultural impact of disability far beyond the sporting arena. Together, they developed a comprehensive initiative that captured the perspectives of Kenyans aged 18–24 from across the country, examining their awareness of and attitudes towards disabled sports and assistive technology. The result is a rich picture of how the next generation engages with disability, inclusion, and innovation.

United by the spirit of the Paralympics, both projects showcase the AT2030 programme’s commitment to ensuring that global moments of celebration become lasting platforms for change.
