As part of post-training follow-up, KBTA documented the experience of Teresia Wamboi, Chairperson of the Coast Cerebral Palsy Foundation, to understand how knowledge gained through the OPD strengthening and Assistive Technology training sessions has been applied within her community.

Teresia mentions that the sessions were very impactful and she applied the learning within her organisation, integrating Assistive Technology and digital approaches into her work with young persons with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. This shift has contributed to visible and meaningful change at the community level.

One of the most notable outcomes is the transformation of Hassan, a 24-year-old young man with severe cerebral palsy, whose life has significantly changed with the organisation’s support. With newly acquired access to a smartphone and digital skills, Hassan has developed competencies in graphic design and has established his own cyber café business, enabling him to generate income and achieve financial independence.

Through the application of knowledge gained during the training sessions, the Foundation has supported nearly 20 young persons with disabilities to acquire digital and entrepreneurial skills, contributing to increased independence and livelihood opportunities."

The experience demonstrates the outcomes envisioned by the Country-Level Strategy for Kenya, particularly in strengthening OPD capacity, promoting digital inclusion, and expanding economic opportunities for persons with disabilities.
