Inclucity: Inclusive Cities Inclusive Future
A four-part webinar series
The world is rapidly urbanising, with an expected rise in the urban population to 70% by 2050 from 55% (UN Sats). Simultaneously, we are also experiencing the impact of climate change and a rise in informal settlements, and challenges in access to services in our cities. To address inclusion in cities, the Global Disability Innovation Hub have released the Delivering Inclusive Design in Cities: A Global Action Report, that provides practical steps for cities worldwide to enhance accessibility and inclusion in their physical infrastructure, buildings, services, and operations.
Grounded in four years of research under the UK Aid-funded AT2030 Programme, this global action report draws from six diverse city case studies in LMICs investigating an overarching question: What is the current state of inclusive and accessible environments and infrastructure in LMICs and what is the role of inclusive design in creating an enabling environment for disabled people? By involving local partners in co-design workshops, the participatory research captures on-the-ground insights, barriers, and aspirations forming the foundation for the report’s evidence-based recommendations.
The outcome of this research :
Inclusive infrastructure and cities: A global comparison report
