We're proud to be featured in Google’s latest article, which showcases our collaborative work to advance accessible technology through two key initiatives: the Centre for Digital Language Inclusion (CDLI) and Mobile as Assistive Technology (Mobile as AT).

In partnership with Google, the CDLI is creating inclusive speech datasets that improve recognition for people with non-standard speech. Through the UK Aid-funded AT2030 programme, Mobile as AT explores how mobile devices can serve as powerful assistive tools especially in low-resource settings.

At GDI Hub, we believe mobile technology is one of the most scalable forms of assistive technology, with the power to transform lives. Google's spotlight reinforces this vision, highlighting how AI and mobile innovation are breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive digital future.

Google's latest updates include enhanced screen readers powered by Gemini AI and improvements in speech recognition for non-standard speech, advances that align closely with our joint work on inclusive technology. These developments reflect a growing commitment to ensuring that digital tools are designed for everyone, regardless of ability.

Through collaborations like ours, Google is demonstrating how inclusive innovation can drive meaningful change and set new standards for accessible technology on a global scale.
