Sports is not just about physical activity. It’s about unlocking potential, building confidence, fostering connection, and breaking barriers. The 2024 Paralympic Games have kicked off in Paris, where over 4,000 disabled athletes from 167 countries and 1 refugee team, are taking part between 28 August and 8th September. The sporting events will be broadcast in approximately 160 countries and more than 2 million people will be watching the events in venues across Paris. Paris 2024 is the largest Paralympic games to occur to date.

Beyond the Paralympics and stories from the para athletes themselves, it is important to highlight the stories of disabled people globally who will be watching, playing, and thinking about sports as being an important part of their lives.

Do you have a story about the empowering potential of sports or the challenges that should be addressed to improve access to sports? What role can assistive technology play in improving access to sports?
