Inclusive Design and Accessibility of the Built Environment in Medellín - an Inclusive Infrastructure Case Study from Colombia
This case study shares findings and recommendations for infrastructure, built environment and urban development - with the aim of driving global action to more accessible and inclusive cities. Building a picture of the current state of the built environment in Medellín, to understand the potential for inclusive design to address barriers to inclusion for persons with disabilities.
This case study has been created by Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub) and local partner El Comité, Corporación Social. It is part of the GDI Hub's UK Aid funded AT2030 Inclusive Infrastructure programme, which explores the role of enabling physical environments in equal access to Assistive Technology (AT).

Este caso de estudio desarrolla hallazgos y recomendaciones sobre infraestructura, la construcción del entorno y el desarrollo urbano, con el objetivo de impulsar la acción global hacia ciudades más accesibles e inclusivas. Lo anterior, mediante el análisis del estado actual del entorno en Medellín, buscando evidenciar el potencial del diseño inclusivo para reducir las barreras que impiden la inclusión de las personas con discapacidad.
Este caso de estudio ha sido liderado por Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub) y nuestro aliado local El Comité, Corporación Social. Es parte del programa de Infraestructura Inclusiva AT2030 de GDI Hub financiado por UK Aid, que explora el rol de los entornos físicos para generar igualdad de acceso a la Tecnología de Apoyo (AT).
